Harry's Hideaway is located in the mountain town of Packwood, Washington. Packwood has several restaurants and bars, a grocery store, a liquor store, a gift shop, and two gas stations.

It is a short 5 minute drive to downtown Packwood/HWY 12. Harry's Hideaway is located in a neighborhood with larger lots, plenty of trees, and a state park. One of our favorite neighborhood activities is walking (about 10 minutes) to Skate Creek State Park - a beautiful alpine park filled with tree and moss lined trails - that follows Skate Creek to the Cowlitz River and offers mountain views along the way.

Packwood is centrally located for a multitude of outdoor opportunities nearby, with its proximity to Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, and Gifford Pinchot National Forest.

During the summer months, we love exploring Skate Creek Road/Forest Service Road 52 (closed during the winter months) and its seemingly endless pull-offs, trails, and smaller forest service roads. Skate Creek Road is approximately 22 miles in length and the entrance is a 5 minute drive (away from town). Skate Creek Road is located in Gifford Pinchot National Forest and runs west to east between Packwood and Ashford. We also enjoy accessing Mt. Rainier National Park through the Ohanapecosh entrance (closed during the winter months), that is approximately 10 miles from downtown Packwood (east on HWY 12 to State Route 123).

During the winter months, we enjoy watching wildlife and skiing and sledding at White Pass Ski Area. The Mahre brothers (1984 Olympics) trained at White Pass, and it is a short 17 miles away from downtown Packwood (east on HWY 12).

A personal vehicle is recommended to fully experience Packwood and the surrounding areas. Depending on your adventure, 4WD or higher-clearance vehicles may be necessary, as the conditions of forest roads and trails, vary.

Please remember to check road conditions/closures before you go. Both, Mt. Rainier National Park and Gifford Pinchot National Forest, provide road status/alerts on their websites. The WSDOT website provides a status for each mountain pass in Washington State.

In the winter, you will need traction devices and/or chains/4WD/AWD (as per requirements by the State of Washington) for your vehicle.

There is ample parking on the property for personal vehicles.
